Meggan loves to use the Oster Cordless Rechargeable Electric Wine Opener Wine Kit in her own kitchen. “I bought this electric wine bottle opener a few years ago and I love it because it makes opening bottles of wine really quick and easy,” she says. “If you are having a party or event where you’re opening lots of bottles, this electric wine opener is a must.”

The handy 4-in-1 opener set has all you need for a nice glass of wine at home. It comes with the wine opener itself, an aerating wine pourer, two vacuum wine stoppers, and one foil cutter. The soft-grip body and single-touch functionality make cork removal easy, while the aerator is great for enhancing flavors and preventing spills!

Meggan loves that it’s cordless and can open up to 30 bottles before needing a charge. She’s especially a big fan of the included foil cutter, which makes the bottle-opening process even easier. Just position the foil cutter over the top of the bottle, squeeze gently, and turn for seamless and hands-free foil cutting.  The vacuum stopper is perfect to preserve any remaining wine.

For the days when she doesn’t use a full bottle for cooking or entertaining, Meggan reaches for this electric opener that also vacuum seals the bottle to keep the wine preserved. “I bought this model over the summer because I’ve been cooking and enjoying wine a little bit more,” she says. “I wanted to be able to vacuum seal the bottles that I was opening, and this electric wine opener is the absolute top of the line.”

This higher-end model from Cuisinart features a modern design of brushed stainless accents and a rubberized ergonomic grip. It offers a seamless uncorking experience with a touch of style. To use, the cork is extracted just by pushing a button, while the vacuum sealer works by pumping down on the top to create an airtight seal that can help extend your wine’s freshness.

Once the bottle is resealed, the numbers on the sealer indicate the date you opened the bottle. (SO handy!) We love that it has a large charging cord, but it can open up to 80 bottles in just one charge. Plus, the foil cutter neatly trims off foil seals and stashes it away in the charging base for minimal storage, reducing clutter along the way.

This electric corkscrew may look simple, and it might be the most intuitive on our list. The buttonless design does all the work for you while still maintaining speed and precision. All you have to do is place it on the neck of the bottle and then use a little pressure so the sensors trigger a mechanism that removes the cork. Once it’s finished, it auto-ejects.

The set includes an anti-slip coaster to prevent your wine bottle from rotating during opening and an integrated foil cutter that easily attaches to the top of the model. One charge via the included USB cord lasts up to 30 bottles of wine, so you won’t need to charge it too often. This model comes in metallic cherry red, black, and silver, making it a beautiful addition to your bar or a great housewarming gift!

The Specs:

  • Weight: 1 lb
  • Material: Plastic
  • Dimensions: 2 by 2 by 9.5 inches

To use it, you can use the convenient foil cutter to remove the label on your vino, then position the opener over the bottle and press the button. In six seconds (!), the wine cork will be removed. Once the bottle is opened, press the “up” button to release the cork from the opener.

We love that it’s the perfect mesh of affordability and performance! It’s a great practical choice for any wine drinker.

This compact model from Ozeri is great for picnics, camping, and travel. It’s small enough to tuck into a bag at just 1.8 by 1.8 inches, but it’s mighty in strength since it can open up 80 bottles on a single charge!

It’s also easy to use — just push the down button to activate the cork screw (or worm), then up to remove it from the bottom in 10 seconds or less. The stylish base acts as a hidden foil cutter and because the bottom is clear, you can easily see when the cork has been fully ejected.

Other Electric Wine Openers to Consider

COKUNST Electric Wine Opener

This electric wine opener from COKUNST is lightweight with a great design. It’s sure to be a great addition to your bar, especially because of the nifty foil cutter. Despite the affordable price point and handy functionality, it didn’t make the cut because it requires two AA batteries. Fumbling at the last minute in a drawer, looking for batteries, is the last thing we want to do while hosting a party. The COKUNST Electric Wine Opener is available at Amazon for $9.99.

Williams Sonoma Heritage Electric Corkscrew

William Sonoma’s electric corkscrew is a high-end option that comes with a foil cutter, charging base, and a USB charging cord. The non-stick spiral prevents corks from shedding, and it can penetrate both natural and artificial corks with ease. We love the antique-inspired etching, but the price tag is just too high. The Williams Sonoma Heritage Electric Corkscrew is available at Williams Sonoma for $64.99.

Houdini Electric Corkscrew

The Houdini Electric Corkscrew has a recessed spiral that lets you lock the edge of it on the bottle for easier operation. Simply press the down arrow to remove the cork, and then press the up arrow to eject the cork. While we like that it pulls the cork out with the touch of a button, we’re not huge fans of needing 4 AA batteries to operate. (Invest in a set of rechargeable batteries should you choose this route!) The Houdini Electric Corkscrew is available at Target for $24.99.

Everything to Know Before Buying an Electric Wine Opener

What to Consider Before Buying an Electric Wine Opener

Before you invest in an electric wine opener, there are several factors you should consider:

  • Battery-Operated vs. Rechargeable: Electric wine openers are typically battery-operated or rechargeable. Battery-operated openers are portable but may require frequent battery changes. Rechargeable models are convenient and cost-effective in the long run, but they need to be charged.
  • Durability and Construction: Look for a wine opener with a durable construction, preferably one made from stainless steel or other high-quality materials. This ensures longevity and stability in the device.
  • Ease of Use: You should opt for a model that’s user-friendly with a simple one- or two-button operation. You shouldn’t have to use a ton of effort or skill to operate it.
  • Features: Some electric wine bottle openers run on batteries, and others come with an electric charger to keep them powered. Many electric wine openers come with additional accessories, such as foil cutters, vacuum pumps, and wine pourers. Consider which features are the most important to you.

How Do You Use An Electric Wine Opener?

For most electric wine openers, all you have to do is place the wine opener over the top of the bottle with one hand, hold the base of the bottle with your other hand, and press the upper switch (or button) on the electric corkscrew. The corkscrew will dig into the cork, pull it out, and that’s it! (It’s so easy you may wonder why it took you so long to purchase an electric wine opener. Don’t worry, we’ve all been there.)

Are Electric Wine Openers Worth It?

Like any other bar tool on your bar cart, it depends on how often you drink wine. Meggan says that if you love to celebrate with a glass of vino on a regular basis, an electric wine opener is a handy tool to keep on hand rather than a manual opener.

“Life is hard enough, opening wine should be easy,” she says. “If you only open wine at Christmas, it might not be worth it, but if you’re opening 20 bottles at Christmas, it’s absolutely worth it.”

How to Change Batteries in an Electric Wine Opener

To change the batteries in your electric wine opener, first identify the location of the battery compartment. It’ll usually be at the bottom of the wine opener, near the base. Once you’ve found it, carefully slide it open and remove the old batteries. Pay attention to their orientation and the direction that they’re placed, since batteries need to be inserted correctly for them to work. From there, place your new batteries in the area, and you’re good to go!

When in doubt, the manufacturer’s directions should clearly indicate how to change the batteries on your wine opener.

How to Get Cork out of an Electric Wine Opener

Occasionally, a cork may become stuck in an electric wine opener. If this happens, it’s important to address the issue carefully to avoid damaging the opener or the cork. Sometimes, the cork may not be properly aligned with the corkscrew or it only comes out halfway. (Ugh!)

First, ensure the electric wine opener is turned off and disconnected from its power source, then carefully twist and pull the cork in the opposite direction from how it’s wrapped around the corkscrew. You should be able to twist it all the way off without any further problems.
