Snickers Salad is a classic Midwestern recipe, and the only thing crazy about it is how crazy-good it tastes! More dessert than salad, this side dish is a potluck legend.
In a large bowl, whisk together milk and pudding mix. Fold in whipped topping. Add Snickers pieces and apples and toss to combine. Chill until serving time.
Notes
Instant vanilla pudding: Some cooks swear by using butterscotch pudding, which ups the caramel flavor. Do not substitute Cook and Serve pudding.
Whipped topping: It's located in the freezer section, so thaw it before use. Or substitute homemade whipped cream if you prefer.
Snickers bars: Snickers bars come in all different shapes and sizes, from King size to Fun size. A standard, full-sized bar is 1.86 ounces, so you can use any size as long as you have about 11 ounces total. Overachievers substituting Homemade Snickers Bars need about half of the recipe.
Apples: Granny Smooth apples are the best (the more tart, the better), but feel free to use a blend of red and green apples if you have them.
Yield: This recipe makes at least 10 cups of salad, possibly more depending on the size of your apples.
Storage: Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for 2 days. The salad is technically safe to eat for up to 4 days, but some separation may occur and the creamy topping will get watery.
