Recipe tips and variations

  • Yield: This recipe will make about 36 cookie balls depending on exactly what size you roll them.
  • Storage: Store these covered in the refrigerator (or on your patio in winter if you live in a cold climate) for 3 to 4 weeks.
  • Freezer: Freeze in an airtight container for up to 4 months. Thaw at room temperature.
  • OREO Cookie Balls: This is the standard version: OREO cookies, cream cheese, and chocolate. I added a caramel sauce and a pinch of salt because it’s just so good.
  • Lemon Cookie Balls : Pick up lemon-flavored OREOs in the spring and make this lemony variety.
  • Golden vanilla cookie balls: Substitute golden OREOs for the standard chocolate variety and dip in white chocolate if desired.
  • Circus Cookie Balls: Remember those pink and white circus cookies from your childhood? Grind those up to make Circus Cookie Balls, dip them in pink and white candy coating, and then top them with fun sprinkles.
  • Peppermint bark balls: Dip in dark chocolate, drizzle with white chocolate, and top with crushed candy canes. The perfect OREO ball for Christmas flavors.

    1. Hi Morgan, sounds great! The Andes chocolate, however, is melted and used to dip to coat the truffles, so you may need to substitute them with another chocolate. – Meggan
