New mothers, non-drinkers, and anyone celebrating will appreciate a New Mother Mocktail served in a beautiful glass with lots of crushed ice. A blend of three different fruit juices makes sure every sip tastes special.
Unlike my Pink Lemonade Vodka Slush, Mojito cocktail, or Pirate Punch, this drink is alcohol-free. I first learned about this fruity concoction while in the hospital. I had just given birth to my son, so I was exhausted and elated. The wonderful nurses who were taking care of me offered me what they referred to as a “cocktail.”
At parties, brunches, or other special events, it’s easy to overlook pregnant ladies or those who don’t drink the stronger stuff. But everyone needs something festive and pretty to sip on at gatherings, and take it from me: it’s nice to be taken care of.

How to make New Mother Mocktail:
It can’t be any simpler. All you have to do is blend equal parts cranberry, apple, and orange juice together in a pitcher or punchbowl.
Then find your frilliest glasses and fill them up with crushed ice. The ice chips make the juice super cold and delicious.
Garnish with the fruit of your choice.
Other tantalizing fruit juice combinations:
Today there’s a remarkable selection of fancy juices out there, so the opportunities for experimentation are almost endless.
Goya brand makes frozen passion fruit, guava, and other fruit purées that might be perfect candidates for switching things up…what sounds good to put on the menu at your own cocktail bar?
Play around with some and figure out what fruit flavors go together best!
Maybe:
- Grapefruit juice, pomegranate juice, lime juice
- Orange juice, mango juice, and cranberry juice
- Grape juice, cranberry juice, and pear juice
- Passion fruit juice, coconut juice, and lime juice—sort of a twist on a mocktail Pina colada!
- Pomegranate juice, watermelon juice, lime juice—inspired by a cocktail Cosmopolitan
- Pineapple juice, pear juice, and pomegranate juice
- Raspberry juice, blueberry juice, cranberry juice.
How to make a lower-sugar version of the drink:
If you’re being careful with your sugar intake, you can make a fruit spritzer using sparking or soda water. Pour the glass half full with juice, and top off with fizzy water.
Of course, I wouldn’t stop you from using your favorite flavor of soda water to make the drink even more interesting!
Fresh squeezed orange juice or from concentrate?
I certainly didn’t get fresh-squeezed juice in the hospital, and it still tasted incredible. But I also would never say no to using freshly squeezed orange juice….It’s up to you.

Hi there! I came across this older post and I just LOVE the glassware and pitcher. I’ve been looking for something exactly like it. Did they come as a set? Might they still be available?
Hi there Lucy, they are not a set but I found the pitcher for you! I’m still looking for the glasses. Hope this helps! Here’s the link: https://www.worldmarket.com/product/glass-carafe.do?sortby=ourPicks&from=Search
Thanks for sharing this amazing mocktail recipe with all of us. I really like this recipe.
This looks AMAZING!!! I will definitely try this at home.
Thank you so much for sharing this refreshing recipe.
Keep sharing:)
Well, now I have plenty of ideas of what to bring to my New Years party I’m attending! These look great, thank you!
So funny! I just saw this scrolling through FB and it reminded me of when I had my daughter 4 years ago when we lived in Valencia. I’m thinking we might have used the same hospital. I had SO much of this juice. It is so good! Saving this to try it :)
Love it! Right after delivery, the nurses gave me a celebratory sparkling drink that was amazing. I guzzled it down and then guzzled down my husband’s cup, too! I called it “the sugar drink” and I went crazy for it. I’ve been craving something sweet to drink while nursing recently and this looks perfect.
Such a great story Sarah! We got a sparkling drink with our “celebratory dinner” which was a “fancy” hospital meal that I got right before they let me out. It was some kind of heavy ravioli dish with the richest cream sauce I’ve ever had in my life, but I LOVED it. I ordered the same thing with both babies! My favorite part about having babies is sitting in the hospital room with a menu and ordering all.the.food. :) I nursed both my babies until about 16 months, glad to hear it’s working for you too.
Meggan, you are just too cool for school with your oh hey follow me on IG to see what I’m talking about. OH MY GOSH. CONGRATS. What a beauty! XOXOXO.
Ha ha, thanks Liz! ;) I’m not really one of those people who gets into sharing all personal details via my blog. It feels more natural posting a picture on IG. Charlotte sure is a lot of fun, even though I may never sleep again. :)
Congratulations on the newest member of your family. Such a happy time in your life and such a beautiful drink to reward yourself with.
Thank you, Lynn! It was even better enjoying this drink at the hospital (they still have it, of course), but I like keeping it “on tap” at my house for all my post-partum recovery needs. Heh heh.
Congratulations Meggan! Oh my goodness I am so happy for you, that little bundle is just too precious! Love this drink too- my hospital never gave me anything as delicious as this when I had mine!
Thank you so much, Allie! One of my favorite parts about this drink is how the staff visits your hospital room and nonchalantly calls out “do you need a Cocktail?” So then whoever is visiting (or on FaceTime) is shocked and confused. So fun!!! :)
Congratulations Meggan! Already saw the picture of your little girl! So happy for you :)
The drink looks so refreshing and delicious. Cheers!
Thank you, Maggie! Charlotte is a very chill, happy baby which I really appreciate. It’s crazy how different boys and girls are!
Oh Meggan … MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS! I’m so happy that everything went well and you now have your beautiful daughter! This drink is a perfect way to celebrate, too.
Thank you, Helen! People tell me the pregnancy seems like it went fast, but I’m just thinking… I’ve been pregnant since last April! So glad it’s over. ;) And of course I love HER, she’s amazing!
This is gorgeous and such a good idea! Congrats on your new little girl – so exciting!
Thank you, Jessica! It’s all very exciting. And exhausting. I love every second of having a newborn in the house again! :) And the New Mommy Mocktail definitely gets me through those times of thirst/dehydration/madness.
Big Congratulations, Meggan! This drink sound wonderfully refreshing. I particularly enjoy your serving recommendation of a large foam cup :P
Thank you, Kathleen! :) The hospital didn’t actually have the foam cups this time, but the plastic cups they have for The Cocktail were even bigger than the old foam ones. So that’s just great. All the new moms on the floor chug this stuff like crazy. I’m just happy Charlotte is here and I’m not pregnant anymore!!! :)
Love this mocktail Meggan! By now you probably have your little girl! Hope you are doing well!
Thank you so much, Mira! Charlotte is a lovely little girl. We are all excited to have her join the family! :)
Cheers to you Meggan! By now you’ve had a gorgeous girl – CONGRATULATIONS! Can’t wait to see pics!! N xx
Thank you, Nagi! She is pretty fabulous, little Charlotte. Loving her. Miss you!!!
This sounds so refreshing, I would drink this everyday. Can’t wait to see those IG updates :)
Thank you, Janette! I DO drink this everyday, it’s just so good. I’m always so dang thirsty and this stuff just makes me so happy. And hey, Charlotte is here, so that’s amazing!!!
