Recipe tips and variations

  • Yield: This recipe makes about 4 cups of smoothie, enough for 2 servings, 2 cups (16 ounces) each.
  • Storage: Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days. Some separation and melting will occur.
  • Thicker smoothies: Make sure the fruit is frozen solid if you like your smoothies on the thicker side. If you prefer a juicer smoothie, blend fresh fruit.
  • Good blenders make good smoothies: Especially with frozen fruit and ice. If you have a weaker blender, start by adding the fruit and ice or let the fruit thaw before blending.
  • Get creative: The great thing about smoothies is that you can switch up the ingredients to suit your taste. If raspberries are in season but the strawberries don’t look as good, feel free to use raspberries instead. Or use a scoop of vanilla frozen yogurt and a splash of orange juice in place of sherbet.
  • Carrot Smoothie: You’ll love the flavors of mango, bananas, and orange juice in this colorful, vibrant smoothie starring a secret ingredient: frozen carrots.
  • Mango Smoothie: This simple smoothie is flavored with mangoes and bananas with Greek yogurt for protein and milk for creaminess.
  • Peach Smoothie: Packed with protein and vitamins, this Peach Smoothie is a nourishing breakfast or snack idea anytime.
  • Spinach Smoothie: Fresh spinach, banana, pineapple, and yogurt make for a super simple, totally delicious way to eat more greens.
  • Strawberry Citrus Ginger Smoothie: Quench your thirst with this refreshing and fruity treat perfect for crushing your sweet cravings.

  1. This smoothie is absolutely delicious!! Tastes just like I stopped at a Jamba Juice! I moved to Florida where Jamba Juice’s are scarce, but this recipe has totally made up for it. I’ve made it twice now! Thanks so much for sharing it!5 stars

    1. It is difficult to find the welches mango passionfruit and the target mango passionfruit juice. What have you been trying? I can find welches mango twist and passionfruit separately.

    1. Thank you so much Lance! I love it too. So juicy and refreshing. I’m glad you liked it! -Meggan

  2. If you live near a grocery store that has a large Latin section, you can find passion fruit concentrate and mango concentrate. Simply add the desired amount of water (instructions on the label). In the event you can’t find orange sherbet, simply add a whole orange and your choice of milk or yogurt to blender (optional: a squeeze of lime juice, a drop of vanilla extract, and sugar to the desired sweetness). You have basically just created orange sherbet without the creamy frozen texture.

  3. I thought it was really good, after the spinning stopped I could almost walk straight. Anyways, It’s been a week now, it looks like the ankle bracelet powered off so I’m gonna go try driving again after this.5 stars

  4. This is perfect! I’m pregnant and crazing smoothies daily so this is a huge time and money saver. I used Jumex mango nectar and passion fruit cocktail and it’s spot on!5 stars

  5. Have you found a good substitute for the Welch’s Chillers Mango Passion Fruit Juice Drink? I can’t seem to find it anywhere and the Welch’s website doesn’t show it anymore.

    1. Hi David, I had no idea that product was gone. Thank you for letting me know! I’ll take a look at a few stores and see what I can find and update the recipe accordingly. I appreciate the info.

  6. I love jamba juice make their Caribbean passion all the time in the summer I add a little twist coconut rum delious5 stars

  7. I love that you have a smoothie without yogurt as the main ingredient – I like the sherbet twist. My body doesn’t love the yogurt smoothies but I still love the ease and deliciousness of a smoothie. Thanks for sharing!5 stars

  8. Nice recipe could not find the Welch’s juice but found one at Sprouts, probably not as sweet though and I think the smoothie reflected that. Still delicious though thank you. Now if I could just find Inta Juice’s recipe for their Caribbean Cooler!5 stars

  9. How many servings/ounces does this yield? Son asked for fruit smoothies instead of cake for his birthday, so need to make for 10 people.5 stars

    1. That’s awesome that he requested that! One batch makes 2 smoothies, so you’ll need to make 5 batches. What a good kid. :)

  10. I’m in Australia, and orange sherbert isn’t something I see around. Is there something that would be a decent replacement?

    1. Hi Melissa! Do you have orange sorbet around? They are basically the same thing except Sherbet has dairy in it (milk fat). But the orange flavor would really close. That would be my best suggestion. I looked at some recipes for making homemade orange sherbet but I think that would defeat the purpose of making this simple smoothie. I hope this helps! Good luck! If you end up trying it, I’d love to hear what you think. Thanks again.

    2. Lo champ,
I actually work at Jamba, and the usual subsution for when we dont have orange hardback is adding 2-4 oz of Orange Juice. And adding 4 ounces more of strawberries and 2 ounces nore of peaches.
      Toodles :)

  11. I do live in the Caribbean on a tiny island, so I am going to try to make this with as much fresh fruit as I can find here now. I’m going to leave out the ice cream only because I need to loose weight now, but will do that later. I just made the citrus flax green smoothy with what I had on hand and it was tasty.

    1. Ah Liz, you live on a boat so you’re halfway there anyway! :) Thank you for stopping by!

  12. It’s 30 degrees, clear blue skies and I’m just back from the beach. If I had this, it would be a PERFECT summer morning!! I love this! This is my kind of smoothie – love the colour, the fruit you use AND you haven’t added any power seeds of powder into it (yeck!). Loving your pics too! :)5 stars

    1. Ha ha, exactly! No chia seeds, no spirulina, no whey protein… no kale for that matter. :) I wouldn’t call this a health food although you do get a bunch of nutrition from the fruit. So yummy. I hope you get a chance to try it!

  13. I’ve never tried this caribbean smoothie at Jamba Juice, but now when I know the secret, I’ll just make it at home :) Looks fantastic! Love the pink color! Pinned!

    1. Thank you Mira, this is absolutely my favorite! I hope you love it. And yes, it’s a very girlie drink. :)

  15. I’m SO making this! I love, love, love the ingredients you have in this smoothie! Love mangos, strawberries are great, like a tasty peach, and orange sherbet is a childhood favorite! Pinned and definitely making!

    1. Thank you Kathleen, this is seriously my most favorite drink ever! I hope you have love it. :)

  16. Meggan, you are literally making my mouth water with this! I’m not usually a smoothie lover, but I think this would be the one to change all that. My favourite fruits are mango and passion fruit, so say no more …5 stars

    1. Helen, this is so much more than a smoothie. It’s a way of life. I hope you get a chance to try it and love it!

  17. This sounds fantastic! I don’t have a Jamba Juice near me :( so I can’t compare. But I have no doubt your homemade version is probably every bit as good, if not better!

    1. Thank you Allie, I do love this one! Welcome to the Jamba experience! :)

  18. I’ve never been to Jamba Juice, but I can’t wait to try your recipe. I’m always looking for new smoothie recipes and it’s so pretty and girlie.5 stars
